Garden Progress

Two beds done. About ten to go:

The goal is beds all the way around, but the “before the deck is in” goal is just the ten (or so) to the gate in the back (about where the tipped over recycle bin is).

Those two are the result of three days effort. The bottleneck is staining. A board has six faces. More than four at time gets very messy. Two coats per face and each set of boards is four stain/dry cycles. The lighter stain was twenty boards. That’s about the maximum for one set due to space constraints.

They’re not all going to be five boards tall. The ones under the tree and across the back will be shorter. The ones in the back will also be six inches wider. There’s space back there and the foot board (plus brick) width is a bit narrow for two rows.

There will be many trips to Menards for lumber. Oddly, they sell 2x6x6s, rather than 2x6x8s, so that changed the “default” size from 8′ to 6′. I’m buying it all from Menards because they have an 11% mail-in rebate. For this much lumber, it will make a big difference.

I am purposefully refusing to draw it out and do the math. It’s just too depressing. I’ll just wing it and it will take as long as it takes.
