This is an easy one I’ve been making for years. I don’t remember where it originally came from, but I consider it mine, now.
1 coarsely chopped onion
⅔ cup vegetable oil
½ cup sugar
⅓ cup vinegar (red wine vinegar is good)
1 ½ tsp Worcestershire
1 ½ tsp salt
1 tsp mustard
1 tsp paprika (double it)
½ tsp garlic powder (to taste – two cloves are good)
Experiment with proportions and substitutions; it’s difficult to make it bad. Throw it all in a blender and puree. Make approximately 1 pint.
If refrigerating, some oils will start to solidify; choose wisely.
Copied from the family cookbook because I wanted the public link to put in a comment on Brian Lagerstrom’s dressing video.
