When one places an order on a futures contract, one must specify how many are desired. For example, I would like to buy two September Corn contracts. Each contract has a size. For corn, that is 5,000 bushels (which are now units of weight, not volume, btw).
The local greenhouse had single, large strawberry plants in pots for about $20 each. They didn’t have the variety I wanted. Instead, I ordered from the Jung catalog (via the website). They cost about $20 each, so I bought 10 of two different varieties.
I expected 20 strawberry plants. I received 500. The contract size is25 plants per order. They were much cheaper because they were bare-root plants (i.e. without pots or much, if any, greenery).
Do you want any strawberry plants?
