Garden Started

I planted seeds, yesterday/Sunday. Inside, of course. It’s 20 degrees with snow on the ground, outside. Adventure Cat refuses to go out.

I’m surprised at how little I start inside. Peppers, tomatoes, brussel sprouts, and broccoli are pretty much it. Everything else (squash, melons, cucumbers, corn, peas, and beans) starts outside. I have herbs growing on the kitchen window sills all year round. To be honest, it’s as much decoration as function – although I did harvest a half-cup of parsley and some thyme this weekend for meatloaf.

I have a lighted, three shelf rack for this (it wasn’t that expensive when I bought it, eight? ten? years ago). I put one of the rack liners on the window sill and call it good. I have not even assembled the rack since we moved here. It’s stacked flat in the garage.

Garden surprise: I still have no idea if the raspberries and blueberries will come back or if their roots froze.
