If an Alaskan airbase can get one, perhaps we can work with Ellsworth, AFB. More later, but I have had that open in browser tab for almost a month. Time to get it archived.

Less Than Half The Host I Was
Ah, nostalgia. I just stumbled across these looking for a picture of Thanksgiving tofurkey, which is highly contraindicated. I only did it once, hence the hard to find picture. This was a church event right after we moved to Denver. That’s why the table is setup in the living room. We chopped 18 inches offContinue reading “Less Than Half The Host I Was”
Grading Fail
I’m not sure what to do about this. The new back driveway was poured yesterday. I didn’t expect a grade test so quickly, but it rained last night. This is not the desired outcome. There is good news: That dry line across the bottom of the garage door is an improvement and the rest ofContinue reading “Grading Fail”
Half Done – and it works!
The patio is poured and usable, if not officially “cured.” We tested it out on Sunday. The driveway segment is ready to pour. We didn’t do the entire thing. About that much again to the left. It was badly graded and rain would run into the garage and was causing that side of the houseContinue reading “Half Done – and it works!”
I’m So Excited
And I just can’t hide it. It’s a bit early to be excited, but the patio/deck construction is finally starting! Patio first. There’s a bit of a perspective/photographic scale issue there, but it really is a YUGE patio at about a third of the back yard. Scale is even harder to see here: The plansContinue reading “I’m So Excited”
Bye Bye Oculus
I bought some headphones for it, hoping for better audio. No such luck. Bad audio and blurry, pixelated graphics. It’s gone, even leaving aside that every other menu is designed to make you buy something, not be useful. Not that I used it much, but now I will use it never. Anyone want one?
Principled or Not?
Paving a $32 Trillion Road to Ruin One should shudder at the societal disorder that will ensue if we don’t tackle our 33 trillion debt An American Greatness contributor, the Hon. Thaddeus G. McCotter (M.C., Ret.) represented Michigan’s 11th Congressional district from 2003 to 2012 The article is nothing particularly interesting. Just OMG! We’re spending too much,Continue reading “Principled or Not?”
Arbitrary Perspective
The Laird found one! I’ve been wanting one of these maps since the West Wing episode – 13 years ago!
The Fourth Turning
It’s a book. I’m not sure I agree with it, but the thesis is that we’re stuck in a four-phase historical hamster wheel. Despite the shades of Calvinism and Psychohistory, which greatly disturb me, I’m going to engage on its own terms. The fourth turning/phase is what we’re in, now. While I have quibbles withContinue reading “The Fourth Turning”
Inexpensive?
I couldn’t find barrister bookcases in town, so Intertubes to the rescue. I ordered those from a place called Houzz for $999 each. My review: Summary: Five stars due to price and convenience. Arrived today, pre-assembled! I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality of such an inexpensive (for furniture) item. It’s real wood, not laminate overContinue reading “Inexpensive?”
