Strawberry Toaster Pastries
I think I’ve got it. The reaction of the crochet group: “Keep practicing – and can we have a poppy seed filling, next time?”
The dough was a bit dry, but I resisted the urge to add water. After two hours in the refrigerator, it was still dry, so I added a 1/2 tablespoon of water and let it sit for another hour. That did it. My theory: It’s been cold out so the relative humidity inside (after raising the air temperature 60 degrees) is very low, resulting in very dry flour.
The crust/filling ratio needs a bit of work. I like the thick, flakey pastry, but it needs to be balanced with a thick filling. This batch was a bit short on filling.
