Be Tough Little Guys

I’m one, possibly two, days early putting my seedlings in the garden. The rule-of-thumb around here is “after Mother’s Day”; it’s the day before.

I figure that having them in front of an occasionally open window is sufficient “hardening”. It’s probably not. But, as you can see, I planted them (too?) close together. If a few don’t make it, that’s still a lot of tomato plants. There’s another bed just like that one with the same number along the back and a row of various hot peppers in front. The third bed is lower. I put the broccoli and brussel sprouts there.

To the left of the picture are the compost bins (which have their own saga, which I will skip for now). There are driplines running just under the surface. I need a pipe to traverse across the compost bin space into the driplines on the other side. That’s tomorrow’s task. If you look closely, you can see a bit of dripline on the left edge. That’s where the connector to the pipe will go.

The beds on the other side will be seeded, so there will be no interesting picture. Fascinating assumption that the picture on this post is “interesting”, eh?

Oh! Another blueberry bush (such a generous description “bush”) survived. That makes two, which I think is sufficient. The one between them died, but if I wait long enough the two are not that far apart. It will be fine. No straw or rasp berries, yet, but lots of blossoms.
