Percentages

In LitRPG, it’s typical for various things to offer percentage bonuses. For example, a magic ring that bequeaths +1% strength.

As I’ve mentioned, I decided to make my system base-12. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t realize that “percent” is a base-10 thing until just now.

I just made up a new title for our intrepid hero:

The Fight in the Wolf. It’s not the size of the wolf in the fight, it’s the size of the fight in the wolf. +10% to all stats when fighting an opponent above your grade.

Uh. 10%? Nope. This is not the first one. And it’s not just a matter of changing the 10 to a 12. The “100” needs to change to “144”.

The “pretty round number” version 10% would be 12/144, which is 8.3%. The 5% equivalent (6/144) is 4.2%. The 1% equivalent is 0.7%.

Now I need to find every percentage in 335 pages (yay, it has reached novel length!) and fix it.

What are you doing today?

Rejected image: I like this one, but the weird orange thing in his left hand is an issue. His cheek is blushed orange (again; that seems a common thing). I also don’t care for the person in the background wearing one shoe.

Update: Grr. And the formulae in 26 spreadsheet tabs. There are two other changes that I want to make to the character sheet spreadsheet: Tab to tab references and how I track free points. I was going to wait until I created a new spreadsheet for book two, but as long as I need to fix all the percentages, I might as well take care of that, too.
