Split, Refactored, and Mastered

NumbersGoUpAlphaMaster.odm is a thing. So is TheMageTowerAlphaMaster.odm. They share the even-numbered files for chapter 22 of Numbers Go Up, but each has its own titles (not least because they’re subtitles in chapter 22 but chapter titles in The Mage Tower). They’re not in the Numbers Go Up table of contents.

That was painful. Not as bad as figuring out the time dilation coordination, but tedious.

Recaps and Author’s Notes exist for both, although they’re terrible. The Mage Tower even got a prologue in ElectroDot format. Bob’s helpful that way. Marcy’s not impressed with info dumps, which I think is a fun meta-commentary on it.

Numbers Go Up was also chapter refactored. That shared chapter was 27. Now it’s 22. I’ve decided to go with continuous chapter numbers, so they both need to end with chapter 24 so that book four can start with 25.

I have a feeling people are either going to love or hate this idea. If readers want to skip book three, that’s fine. I wonder about the publishing gap. A longer gap makes the content copy/paste more logical. On the other hand, for those who want to tear through the series, delaying the new content in book four while waiting for semi-duplicate content in book three will be annoying.

Now, I need to write it all. A lot of Marcy’s chapters don’t even have titles. I have no idea what she’s going to get up to, but becoming the most powerful person on the planet has to be interesting, right?

BTW: The You Asked For It spreadsheets have had the new book two stuff ripped out of them. The new Numbers Go Up spreadsheets are copies of the originals and I haven’t even opened them, yet. That’s tomorrow’s problem.

Rejected image: There isn’t one. I’m trying to decide on a prompt for book two.
