I’ve heard authors, particularly Sarah Hoyt, say that their characters want to be written. I’ve never quite understood, until now. It was more than “flow“.
That smartass Luke took me over, yesterday. I was up until 0300 and the words just poured out. The last hour’s output is a bit dubious, but the rest of it just happened and everything fit.
Only Chapter 9 remains with gaping holes. Last night, 8, 10, and 11 basically wrote themselves. I just filled the last of the holes in 8 and 10. 12 could use a few a bits more; I was trying to keep chapters short when I wrote it. 13 is done.
Then a last pass through the first half to be sure the spreadsheets and text match and it all makes sense (e.g. they don’t level up to 10 twice). Then off to my first alpha readers!
This is surprisingly exciting, although the channeling thing was weird.
No more pictures. I think the cover I posted will be the one, with the title moved up a bit.
