Not only am I a professional dancer, I’m also an anti-professional dancer: We paid to be in this one. Sort of like a vanity press book, I guess. After the first one, I said I wouldn’t do this, again. It is fun and I like an audience, but it’s also expensive. The Laird convinced meContinue reading “Sway”

Learning 2 Bake from Scratch – LVII
Halloween Cupcakes These were super experimental. I’ve never made cupcakes before. They were also hardware store style baking: Repeated trips to the store were necessary. I have two muffin pans at a dozen muffins each. I thought one and half layers of a layer cake would fill both pans, hence the four-batch mis en place.Continue reading “Learning 2 Bake from Scratch – LVII”
Waffles
The Laird has been not-so-subtly wanting a waffle iron. I don’t want one. It’s the sort of thing that one buys, uses three times, then stores in a cupboard for decades. We don’t have the storage space we once had. Well, what should turn up in the unending “let’s unpack another box this weekend” task?Continue reading “Waffles”
I Can Has Posture!
Unfortunately, “good” posture is situational. I had several requests for a picture of last week’s debacle, so I sacrificed and went shooting again, today. Enjoy the staged, but accurate, dance posture with rifle. The public humiliation I suffer for my art. It’s all your fault, Kay.
Pew-pew!
There are several “I finally”s in this, but the one that relates to the title is, “I have finally shot a gun that makes a ‘pew pew’ noise!” At the moment, there is no shooting range in Rapid City. The old one closed after I had only been there once. The new one is notContinue reading “Pew-pew!”
Illusions
I’ve been watching UFC fights of late. YouTube is very helpful with the algorithm throwing them into my “Watch Next” list. I watched this (Bellator, not UFC) one on Saturday. I mainly watch these because I enjoy seeing hot men beat the shit out of each other. This particular fight was interesting on a differentContinue reading “Illusions”
School of Rock
The Laird bought us season tickets for the Black Hills Community Theater. Friday was the first one: School of Rock. It was a great deal of fun. We walked to Rapid City High School, at least that’s what’s chiseled over the entryway (there is more than one high school in the city and I haveContinue reading “School of Rock”
Learning 2 Bake from Scratch – LVI
Blackberry Apple Pie Another one from the Four and Twenty Blackbirds book. I again used the combo crust. I cut it down to a 2/3rds recipe, which really wasn’t enough. The bottom crust is very thin. I also par/blind baked it, which the recipe does not call for – but fruit pies are runny. TheContinue reading “Learning 2 Bake from Scratch – LVI”
Do Game Developers Get Royalties?
There was some concern for the developers of Concord, a game I’d never heard of, when it crashed and burned in two weeks. Kotaku, another thing I’d never heard of, published some of it. I don’t get it. While it is nice to work on successful projects, developers get paid as-they-go (i.e. they’re employees). WhyContinue reading “Do Game Developers Get Royalties?”
Fantasy, Imagination, & Reality
I noticed on my morning walk that it’s almost K-bar deer season. “Huh?” is a reasonable reaction. A few years ago, Amazon had K-bar’s on sale. I have absolutely no use for one, but they’re the knife of the Marine Corp, so they’re cool. I thought about it, considering that my purchase of Axe bodyContinue reading “Fantasy, Imagination, & Reality”
