The weekend goal is to make progress on the outline. After writing it, I decided that I’d rather passively watch something than actively write. Since it’s only Friday night, that shouldn’t impact a weekend goal very much, right?
I cannot tell if this is AI or not:
It’s good. I’ll even go so far as to say it’s very good. There are no “particular” or “specific” AI tells.
It suffers from “which came first” syndrome. In some cases, the text/caption was correct and the reader was wrong. In other cases, the reader was correct and the text/caption was wrong. That still baffles me.
In any case, the reason I’m making this post is that I don’t want to forget this quote:
He had seen something in me. Some quality that made him think I could handle this world. I am still not sure if he was right. Some days, I miss the boring simplicity of station security, … But most days, I am grateful. Grateful for that moment of paranoia that made me dig deeper. Grateful for the chaos that followed. Grateful for the chance to be part of something bigger. … Sometimes the things that seem like disasters, the moments that feel like your entire world is falling apart, those are actually opportunities.
As I hope you can imagine, that resonated with System arrival and Turning people into werewolves.
I’m not going to steal it verbatim – both because that’s wrong and because it doesn’t fit verbatim. However, I definitely want to remember the sentiment. And now I will.
BTW: The title is because this is the first time I’ve found a quote I wanted to keep that I wasn’t at least mostly certain it came from a human. If that’s AI, our future needs very careful stewardship. That’s emotional manipulation level language. AI doesn’t need to conquer us if it can simply convince (i.e. manipulate) us that it has our best interests at heart – and too many people are stupid enough not to realize that it has no heart, only objectives.
I don’t have a category for this sort of thing.
